New teak decks installed on a Hanse on The Hamble
Ariel had been left standing for 10 years before being bought by her current owner, Christopher. He wanted a full refit and found me, after a recommendation by another client. One year later, his boat is launched!
Ahoy, fellow sailors and sea enthusiasts! Allow me to regale you with the tale of Ariel's rejuvenation — a Contessa 32 sailboat that has been given new life through meticulous care and craftsmanship. I am George Isted, affectionately known as the Solent Boat Butler, and it has been my privilege to oversee this comprehensive refit.
Ariel, a vessel of grace and character, embarked on her transformation journey under my watchful eye. With over 25 years of experience in the maritime industry, I approached this project with a blend of expertise and passion, aiming to breathe fresh vitality into every aspect of her being.
The cornerstone of Ariel's refit was the installation of a new heart—a Beta 25 engine. Engineered for reliability and performance, this powerhouse promises to propel Ariel through tranquil waters and tumultuous seas alike, with unwavering dependability.
“Thanks George, fantastic service! We needed a job fitted in our timescales at a good price, you squeezed us in and completed the job on time. It’s fantastic. If you have a boat and need work, use the Solent Boat Butler!

Above deck, we spared no expense in outfitting Ariel with the finest fittings. New deck ring fittings were meticulously selected and installed, marrying functionality with aesthetic appeal. Meanwhile, fresh hatches and windows beckon sunlight and fresh sea breezes into Ariel's rejuvenated quarters, enhancing comfort and livability.
The journey to Ariel's renewal was not without its challenges, but with determination and expertise, we conquered each obstacle. The gelcoat, weathered by time and elements, underwent meticulous reconditioning and polishing, restoring Ariel's gleaming exterior to its former glory.
One cannot overlook the crowning jewel of Ariel's refit—the new cap rail. Crafted with precision and attention to detail, this quintessential component not only enhances Ariel's visual allure but also ensures her structural integrity for years to come.
As the curtains draw on Ariel's refit saga, I am filled with pride and satisfaction. She emerges from her cocoon of refurbishment, resplendent and rejuvenated, ready to embrace the boundless horizons that await her. Ariel's transformation stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of maritime craftsmanship and the timeless allure of the sea.
Fair winds and following seas, George Isted The Solent Boat Butler
